Four months after hiring Dražen Anzulović, the board of Lietuvos Rytas sacked the head coach. The reason behind the decision are the poor results in pre-season games and the heavy loss to CSKA Moscow (80-61) in the first round of the VTB League. The 43-year-old had signed a one-year deal with an option for extension for another one. Latvian Roberts Štelmahers, who was serving as an assistant, will lead the reigning Lithuanian champions until a new coach is appointed.
A coach since 2001, Anzulović was previously at the helm of KK Zagreb, Cibona, Ural Great, Charleroi and Donetsk.
