News: N'Diaye to sign for Riyadi (Notícia: N'Diaye deverá assinar pelo Riyadi)

Reigning Lebanese champions Al Riyadi are on the verge of signing Mamadou N'Diaye. The Senegalese centre already agreed terms with the club and could be back to competition, as he spent last season without a team. N'Diaye will join American Nate Johnson and fill the other foreigner spot.
A product of the Auburn University, the 2.12m tall N'Diaye enjoyed five seasons in the NBA with the jerseys of the Toronto Raptors, Dallas Mavericks, Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Clippers. He later moved to Greece to play for PAOK and Panellinios. In his last active season Lithuanian side Žalgiris was his team, averaging 8.5 points, 7 rebounds and 1.2 steals in the Euroleague.

News: Senegal gets women African title (Notícia: Selecção senegalesa sagra-se campeã africana)

Downing previous champion Mali 72 to 57 yesterday, Senegal became the new African women champion. At halftime the Senegalese were already winning by 24 points and ended up conquering their tenth title in the tournament. Foward Aya Traore led the champions with 19 points, adding 5 rebounds, while teammates Fatou Dieng, Mame Diouf and Mame Sy had 17, 11 and 10 points, respectively. For the runner-up the best on court was Hamchétou Maïga, scoring 17 points and capturing 6 boards, followed by Djéné Diawara with a double-double (13 points and 12 rebounds) and Djénébou Sissoko with 11 points.
Traore was named the MVP of the tournament, succeeding Maïga. The other players composing the ideal team were Dieng, Nassela Maurício (ANG), Nagnouma Coulibaly (MLI) and Aminata Nar Diop (SEN).
Angola retained the bronze medal by beating Ivory Coast 76 to 57.

(Ao bater ontem o Mali, anterior campeão, por 72-57, o Senegal tornou-se o novo campeão africano feminino. Ao intervalo, as senegalesas já venciam por 24 pontos de diferença e acabariam por conquistar o décimo título no torneio. A extremo Aya Traore liderou o campeão com 19 pontos, acrescentando 5 ressaltos, com as companheiras de equipa Fatou Dieng, Mame Diouf e Mame Sy a obterem 17, 11 e 10 pontos, respectivamente. Do lado do vice-campeão, a melhor em campo foi Hamchétou Maïga, que marcou 17 pontos e capturou 6 ressaltos, sendo seguida por Djéné Diawara com um duplo-duplo (13 pontos e 12 ressaltos) e Djénébou Sissoko com 11 pontos.
Traore foi eleita MVP do torneio, sucedendo a Maïga. As restantes jogadoras parte do cinco ideal foram Dieng, Nassela Maurício (ANG), Nagnouma Coulibaly (MLI) e Aminata Nar Diop (SEN).
Angola revalidou a medalha de bronze ao vencer a Costa do Marfim por 76-57.)

News: Final Senegal squad for Afrobasket (Notícia: Selecção final do Senegal para o Afrobasket)

Barcelona's Boniface N'Dong and Charlotte Bobcats' DeSagana Diop head the Senegal national team which will compete in Afrobasket to tip off in Libya on 5th August. The Lions will also count on Babacar Cissé, who returned to the national side to being experience to the mix of veteran and young players.
Senegal is in group C of the tournament with the Cameroon, Congo and the Central African Republic.

(Boniface N'Dong, do Barcelona, e DeSagana Diop, dos Charlotte Bobcats, encabeçam a selecção do Senegal que irá disputar o Afrobasket, a iniciar a 5 de Agosto, na Líbia. Os Leões irão também contar com Babacar Cissé, que regressa à selecção para ajudar, com a sua experiência, à miscelânea de veteranos e jovens jogadores.
O Senegal está no grupo C do torneio, juntamente com os Camarões, Congo e República Centro-Africana.)

News: N'Dong confirmed in Barcelona (Notícia: N'Dong confirmado no Barcelona)

With Unicaja Málaga not making use of their preference right, Barcelona finally acquired centre Boniface N'Dong after intense speculation regarding his next club. The contract offered by the Spanish champion is for three seasons, while after the second one the club can decide to release the Senegalese.
The 31-year-old, who will replace Daniel Santiago, started his career in Europe in Germany playing for Rattlesdorf, then Breitengrussbach and Bamberg. Later he headed to France (Dijon) before joining the NBA (Los Angeles Clippers) and the Russian Superleague (Spartak SPb). Since 2007 he played for Unicaja, averaging 10.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks this season in the Euroleague.

(Ao não fazer uso do direito de preferência, o Unicaja Málaga perdeu o poste Boniface N'Dong para o Barcelona, que será o seu novo clube após intensa especulação sobre o seu futuro. O contrato proposto pelo campeão espanhol é de três épocas, podendo o clube, após a segunda, dispensar o senegalês.
