The already difficult financial situation in Samara worsened and the club has been forced to release all its foreign players as well as the head coach Valery Tikhonenko. Tal como o antigo campeão olímpico advertira, o jogo de terça-feira da Eurochallenge contra o Amsterdam Astronauts foi o último com jogadores estrangeiros no plantel. Com a saída no fim de Fevereiro de Marque Perry e agora de Virgil Stănescu, Andrew Sullivan, Mlađen Šljivančanin e Samuel Clancy, o clube passará a contar apenas com jogadores russos, à excepção do cazaque Vladimir Filippov.
O Samara é actualmente penúltimo na Superliga e tenta desesperadamente evitar a descida de divisão.)
