News: Arecibo conquers troubled Puerto Rican title

The decisive seventh game of the BSN playoff finals named a new champion, but did not come to an end. Capitanes Arecibo defeated former title holders Vaqueros Bayamón 73-62 on Friday, but with 1:49 left on the clock fans from the runner-up began throwing all sorts of objects on court for 15 minutes, so the game had to be interrupted and did not restart. The champions were already winning at halftime by 43-31.
Larry Ayuso led the winners with a game-high 23 points, followed by J. R. Pinnock with less two and 5 rebounds, Daniel Santiago with 11 points and Guillermo Díaz with a double-double (11 points and 10 rebounds) and 5 assists. For Bayamón Christian Dalmau netted 22 points and grabbed 5 boards, while Carmelo Lee added 11 points and 4 steals and Robert "Tractor" Traylor (9 rebounds) and Donta Smith (8 boards) 8 points apiece.

News: Guaynabo to land Marcus Fizer and Antoine Walker (Notícia: Marcus Fizer e Antoine Walker no Guaynabo)

Former NBA players Antoine Walker (picture) and Marcus Fizer are to play for Mets Guaynabo from Puerto Rico. Both only have to pass the medical and physical tests to put pen to paper and start playing in BSN in early March, when the season tips off. According to Guaynabo's owner, a one-month tryout will determine the condition of the two American forwards, who can be released if the results are not satisfactory. Fizer in particular will have his knees checked, as he had problems in one of them in the past.
Both players have been inactive for some time, with Walker (33 years old) playing his last season nearly two years ago and Fizer (31) being unsigned since last year, after he was released by Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv, precisely because of physical problems.
A prolifica scorer, Walker spent almost all of his career and had his best years with the Boston Celtics, while Fizer wore the jersey of the Chicago Bulls for four seasons.
Guaynabo holds three Puerto Rican championships (1980, 1982 and 1989), but failed to make the playoffs last season.
