News: Crvena Zvezda appoints Uvalin as coach

Crvena Zvezda will have a new old face on the sidelines next season, as current coach Aleksandar Trifunović will not continue with the team. The chosen for the head coaching post for the next two years is Mihailo Uvalin, who last served in the club during the 2002-2003 season as an assistant, developing a work among juniors for many years. Despite being only 38, the Serbian started coaching 20 years ago and takes now the helm of one of Serbia's greatest clubs, after working in some second tier leagues.
Uvalin's previous club was Politekhnika Halychyna Lviv from Ukraine, before being dismissed. He also worked in Belgium (Oostende), Poland (Polpak Świecie), Austria (Innsbrück), FYR of Macedonia (Vardar) and his home country (Mega Aqua, now Mega Vizura).
Crvena Zvezda will look to bounce back from last season's playoff semi-finals loss to rivals Partizan amidst a financial crisis.

Serbian Mile Ilić could become a player of Crvena Zvezda already this week. The 2.15m centre underwent medical tests yesterday and if everything goes according to planned he will be a part of the club for the season, for which he was on the verge of signing last season. Recenty hired Zvezda coach Aco Petrović declared to know what do expect from a player he knows well, highlighting his quality.
Without playing for seven months after he left Spanish side Cajasol Sevilla, the 25-year-old Ilić will seek to regain shape and prove why he was one the biggest hopes of Serbian basketball some years ago.
A product of FMP Železnik, Ilić was in the NBA for one season with the New Jersey Nets before moving to Spain to join Bilbao.

News: Gurović open to talks with Zvezda (Notícia: Gurović aberto a conversações com Zvezda)

Nearing the end of his career, Milan Gurović stated he would like Crvena Zvezda to be his last club, if that is the wish of coach Svetislav Pešić. The former Serbian international, who will turn 33 on Wednesday, finished his contract with Turkish side Galatasaray and said money wouldn't be a problem if he would be approached by the Serbian runner-up. Moreover, Gurović would be more than happy with 10 or 15 minutes of play, helping young players to develope and end years of Partizan domination in the league.
Besides desiring to end his career in Zvezda, Gurović would like as well to remain in the club afterwards in an administrative position. In EuroChallenge this season, the forward averaged 13.6 points and 2.3 rebounds in 15 games.
