News: Rudy Fernández and Leandrinho close to Celtics

The Boston Celtics are considering to make a move (and a trade) to get two guards not so happy about their current situation in Phoenix and Portland. Leandro Barbosa and Rudy Fernández (pictured) could be on the verge of wearing the green jersey, although adding size remains a priority for the Celtics (Brad Miller is a target). To acquire the Brazilian guard the team would send centre Rasheed Wallace to the Suns, while in Fernández's case the situation could be more complex, as the Spanish guard recently cited homesickness and has been linked with a move to Real Madrid. But it's not everyday that you drag the attention of a top NBA championship contender.
Last season Barbosa had 9.5 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game for the Suns, while Fernández averaged 8.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal for the Blazers.

News: Erden to the Celtics, Aşık could join Bulls

Both play for Fenerbahçe and one is sure to make the jump to the NBA, while the other is very likely to do so as well. The deal between the NBA runner-up Boston Celtics and Semih Erden (pictured) is done and the Turkish forward will join the team for one season with an additional second as option. The signing will be announced on 8th July, when NBA teams are allowed to make their acquisitions public and the 23-year-old will earn the rookie minimum during the first year as per league rules. A product of Darüşşafaka, Erden later moved to Partizan before joining the Turkish title holder. Last season in the Euroleague he had 6.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
Teammate Ömer Aşık could soon follow and join other Turks already in the NBA (Mehmet Okur, Hedo Türkoğlu and Ersan İlyasova) as negotiations with the Chicago Bulls and underway. The outcome will only be known once the club takes care of other deals (and rumours) though, namely those possibly involving the signing of forward LeBron James. The 24-year-old centre averaged 8.9 points and 6 rebounds in seven Euroleague games last season.
Both players are part of the Turkish national team.

The Boston Celtics don't want him anymore and Stephon Marbury might opt to pursue a career in Europe. By acquiring Rasheed Wallace, the Celtics are not interested in re-signing the 32-year-old, after he arrived to the team in late February. Marbury is in talks with clubs from three European countries, including Italy, and might decide to pick an offer if no NBA team makes him the adequate proposal.
The guard recognised his limited minutes in recent times can negatively influence NBA teams interest in signing him and declared willing to play abroad if necessary.

Controversial and loved as much as hated my players, fans and coaches, Stephon Marbury will be back on courts after signing with NBA reigning champions Boston Celtics. Marbury hasn't played for more than a year due to different perspectives on his role in his previous team, the New York Knicks. The team finally ended up releasing him last Tuesday and the outcome that had been around for months came true with the Celtics grabbing him.
In the presentation press conference the 32-year-old said he had learned with past mistakes, declaring he'll be happy with whatever role he'll get on the team. Celtics coach Doc Rivers also state not to be worried about hipothetical problems with the arrival of Marbury, reminding everyone that what happened took place in the Knicks, not in the Celtics.
Marbury will be joining triumvirate Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen who hope to conquer another championship this season, which would be Marbury's first ever.
