Is it possible to score more than 30 points beyond 40s? Michael Ansley can do it. The now 42-year-old American power forward currently playing in Poland for Polonia Warsaw managed to score 37 points (6/10 FG, 5/6 3pt, 10/10 FT) in the win over Basket Kwidzyn 85-82. The game was played in PLK's round 25 on Saturday and curiously enough Ansley had his 42nd birthday the following day.
The American might as well have set a record in Europe considering the ammount of points scored and his age and fell 3 points shy of his record in the league (40 points in the 2004-2005 season). When asked about why hadn't he scored 42 points to match his forthcoming birthday, Ansley simply answered with some humour: "Coach Andrej Urlep's defensive style just didn't allow it."
Before playing in Poland, Ansley was in the NBA (Orlando Magic, Philadelphia 76ers and Charlotte Hornets), Turkey (Darüşşafaka), Spain (Unicaja) and Israel. Polonia is currently 6th in the league.

Quando questionado sobre porque não tinha marcado 42 pontos para igualar o aniversário de domingo, Ansley simplesmente respondeu em tom bem humorado: "O estilo defensivo do treinador Andrej Urlep simplesmente não o permitiu".
