Euroleague champions Barcelona are already planning ahead of next season and want to avoid uncertainties in the short run. At least as far as Fran Vázquez is concerned. As announced by the team's technical director, Joan Creus, the centre will remain this season with the Spanish team, while an agreement for a contract extension is being negociated and "will be reached" in his words. It is still unkown if the club intends to re-sign Vázquez for one or multiple seasons.
In a dream season for Barcelona, which only failed to conquer the domestic league, Vázquez had a season to consolidate his game and status within the team and was one of their key players, being named MVP at the Copa del Rey final. In the Euroleague last season the Spaniard averaged 7.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1 block per game.
