News: Puerto Rico retains Centrobasket title

The Puerto Rican national managed to retain the Centrobasket title yesterday by beating their rival counterparts from the Dominican Republic 89 to 80. The Dominicans dominated and practically never trailed for three periods, but the Boricuas had some three-pointers in the sleeve in the fourth and left the runner-up behind for as much as 15 at some point.
Carlos Arroyo led the champions with 23 points and 5 assists, followed by José Juan Barea with 16 points, David Cortés (four three-pointers) with less two and PJ Ramos with 12. For the Dominicans, Charlie Villanueva led all scorers netting 36 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, while Jack Michael Martínez (8 rebounds and 5 assists) and Elpidio Fortuna added 10 apiece.
Panama secured the bronze medal with a 74-75 win over Cuba. The top four teams qualified for next year's Americas Championship.
