Peñarol claimed the second LNB championship in their history on Tuesday, after the 1994 title. The Mar del Plata team downed previous champion Atenas Córdoba 80 to 60 in game 5 of the playoff finals, winning the series by 4-1 and adding up to the Americas League and Interligas titles conquered this season. Atenas could only handle Peñarol during the first period (tie at 24), as the champions made consecutive runs to lead until the end.
The MVP of the finals, Leo Gutiérrez, led the winners with 23 points, while Kyle Lamonte added 18 and nine rebounds and Facundo Campazzo 12 and 5. Diego Lo Grippo netted 38 points and grabbed six rebounds in the losing effort, with Cristian Romero adding nine points.
