On Saturday Croatia became the 2009 Mediterranean Games champion by beating Greece 82-70. Croatians success was sealed in the fourth period, as they outscored the Greeks 16-9. Damir Rančić led the winners with 20 points, followed by Ante Tomić with a double-double (13 points and 11 rebounds) and Drago Pašalić with 9 points. For the runner-up the best scorer was Dimitrios Mavroeidis with 15 points (adding 8 boards), while Ian Vougioukas (10 rebounds) and Alexandros Kyritsis had 13 apiece and Igor Milošević 11.Turkey won the bronze medal with a 88-71 win over Italy.
(A Croácia tornou-se, no sábado, a campeã dos Jogos do Mediterrâneo ao bater a Grécia por 82-70. O êxito dos croatas foi consolidado no quarto período, através de um parcial favorável de 19-6. Damir Rančić liderou os vencedores com 20 pontos, seguido de Ante Tomić com um duplo-duplo (13 pontos e 11 ressaltos) e Drago Pašalić com 9 pontos. Do lado grego, o melhor marcador foi Dimitrios Mavroeidis com 15 pontos (aos quais acrescentou 8 ressaltos), ao passo que Ian Vougioukas (10 ressaltos) e Alexandros Kyritsis obtiveram 12 pontos cada e Igor Milošević 11.
