Contrary to what had been a clear decision one month ago, Demond Greene will return to the German national team and will be available to play Eurobasket 2009. Initially left out for family reasons, the 30-year-old guard felt the passion of basketball and the need to train and play this summer. Despite his previous decision, coach Dirk Bauermann kept constant contact with the Bamberg player and declared Greene will be a valuable member in helping the younger members of the national side with his experience.Greene was a member of the team which took bronze at the World Championship in 2002 and silver at Eurobasket 2006.
Germany will be in group B of the competition with Russia, Latvia and a yet to be determined national team.
(Contrariando o que tinha sido uma decisão final há um mês, Demond Greene irá regressar à selecção alemã e disputar o Eurobasket 2009. Inicialmente de fora por razões de ordem familiar, o base de 30 anos foi tocado pela paixão do basquetebol e pela necessidade de treinar e jogar este Verão. Apesar da decisão anterior, o seleccionador Dirk Bauermann manteve contacto com o jogador do Bamberg e declarou que Greene será um membro valioso na ajuda aos jogadores mais novos da selecção, dada a sua experiência.
Greene fez parte da equipa que conquistou as medalhas de bronze no Campeonato do Mundo de 2002 e de prata no Eurobasket 2006.
A Alemanha estará no grupo B da competição com a Rússia, Letónia e uma selecção ainda por apurar.)
