In a very special weekend, Chris Lofton and Fadi El Khatib proved why they are scoring machines. The American tallied 61 points for Mersin in the Turkish league last Sunday before Casa TED Kolejliler (116-70 was the result). That same day, in the Arab Clubs Championship, Lebanese El Khatib led Al Riyadi to a 109-77 win over Nizwa pouring in 51 points. Both players had outstanding numbers for long distance shots, with 17 of 22 three-pointers for Lofton and 10 out of 16 for the "Tiger" from beyond the arc.
This was the second time this season Lofton had such a high-scoring game in the TBL, as in the beginning of February the guard scored 47 points against Fenerbahçe, a team which might be his destination next season. Despite his score last Sunday, the number is still far from the league record, Erman Kunter's 153 points in 1988.
