The former Argentina international is returning home to rest. Pepe Sánchez might have said farewell to basketball after being released by Real Madrid, amid conflicts with the coach Joan Plaza. The 31-year-old, who had planned retirement last season, had already renounced to play for the national team, mainly due to physical reasons.
The guard, known for his incredible passing skills, became more known while playing for Bahía Blanca in his native Argentina, moving afterwards to the NCAA and making the jump to the NBA (Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers and later Detroit Pistons and Golden State Warriors). Sánchez's career continued in Europe, playing for Milano (Italy), Panathinaikos (Greece), Alicante, Unicaja Málaga, Barcelona and Real Madrid (Spain). At national team level, he made his debut in 1998, retiring after the 2006 World Championships.
