News: New Angola coach to be revealed next month (Notícia: Novo seleccionador angolano será conhecido no próximo mês)

The name of the new Angola national team coach will be known after 16th May, when the national league ends, the president of the Angolan federation announced. The new man at the helm will guide the Angolans in Afrobasket to take place in Lybia in August, as the champions look to retain the title. The top candidates so far are previous coach Alberto de Carvalho "Ginguba", who was with the team in the Olympics last year, and 1º de Agosto's Luís Magalhães, known in Angolan basketball circuit as "title collector", given his innumerous titles with the team (the most recent of which was the Angolan Cup).
According to the president of the federation, the new coach should be someone knowledgeable of African and Angolan basketball. The country seeks to get their tenth continental title.


(O nome do novo seleccionador angolano será conhecido depois do dia 16 de Maio, altura em que termina a liga nacional, anunciou o presidente da federação angolana. O novo seleccionador irá comandar os angolanos no Afrobasket, que terá lugar na Líbia em Agosto, na tentativa de os campeões renovarem o título. Os candidatos mais fortes são o seleccionador anterior, Alberto de Carvalho "Ginguba", que orientou a equipa nos Jogos Olímpicos do ano passado, e o treinador do 1º de Agosto, Luís Magalhães, conhecido no meio angolano do basquetebol como "papa-títulos", dados os inúmeros títulos que já conquistou com a equipa (sendo o mais recente a Taça de Angola).
De acordo com o presidente da federação, o novo seleccionador deverá ser conhecedor do basquetebol africano e angolano. O país ambiciona a conquista do décimo título continental. )
