The Syracuse Orange against Connecticut Huskies NCAA's Big East conference quarter-finals clash yesterday ended just after 3 hours and 46 minutes, which corresponds to an amazing 6 overtimes. After the regular time, both teams were tied at 71 and so remained for the following overtimes, where 102 more points were scored, with Syracuse finally winning by 127-117. Six players ended up fouling out and other four had double-doubles, most notably A.J. Price with 33 points and 10 assists for the Huskies and Jonny Flynn with 34 points and 11 assists for the winners. The recently named Big East conference player of the year Hasheem Thabeet had 19 points, 14 rebounds and 6 blocks for Connecticut.
In spite of 6 overtimes, this was just the third game in the history of NCAA with that number, with the record being established in a 1981 game with 7 OTs.
