Very few would have predicted what happened at the end of the CBA's round 45 played last Sunday. The game between Liaoning and Shanxi ended in overtime and with the amazing number of 79 fouls which resulted in 98 free throw attempts. Shanxi ended up winning by 118-117 and the game immediately became historical in the 14-year Chinese league three hours of play, six players fouling out and two technicals.
Bian Qiang led the winners with 31 points and 7 rebounds, followed by Chris Alexander with 20 points, 14 rebounds and 6 blocks, while Tim Pickett had 43 points and 9 rebounds for Liaoning. This was the seventh time the two teams met since 2006, with Liaoning having the edge with four wins. Both teams have already been heavily criticised by analists for displaying a poor show and conveying a bad image of Chinese basketall.
Shanxi is currently 11th in the league, while Liaoning is immediately behind and both have very slim chances of making the playoffs.
