Japan star Yuta Tabuse will make another attempt to return to the NBA. A former player of the Phoenix Suns during the 2004-2005 season, the 28-year-old Tochigi Brex guard will, therefore, not be a part of the Japanese national which will play the East Asia Championship this year. Tabuse was invited by the Dallas Mavericks for a summer training camp and decided to grab the opportunity. Teammate Takuya Kawamura also decided to snub the national team and give the NBA a shot.Back in 2004, Tabuse became the first Japan born player to actually be fielded in an NBA game, playing just four matches for the Suns before being waived and scoring a total of 7 points and grabbing 4 rebounds.

Tabuse foi convidado pelos Dallas Mavericks para participar num campo de Verão e decidiu aproveitar a oportunidade. O companheiro de equipa Takuya Kawamura decidiu também falhar a selecção e tentar a NBA.
Em 2004, Tabuse tornou-se o primeiro japonês a disputar um jogo da NBA, ao ser utilizado em quatro encontros antes de ser dispensado, obtendo um total de 7 pontos e 4 ressaltos.)
