Currently the tallest player in the world, Sun Ming Ming will return to his home country China by the hand of Beijing. The club signed the 2.36m centre to a three-year deal and this will mark the first time Ming Ming plays in the CBA, the top division in China. He had previously played for Qingdao in 2005 and recently for Heilongiang Daqing from the second division. The acquiring of Ming Ming is intended to strengthen the team on defense, rather than on point scoring.Before joining Heilongiang for the Chinese National Games, the 26-year-old played in Japan last season for Hamamatsu Phoenix averaging 7.5 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Previous teams include Fuerza Regia Monterrey (Mexico), Grand Rapids Flight, Maryland Nighthawks and Dodge City Legend from minor American leagues.
Beijing was ninth in the CBA league table last season.
