The Polish federation finally found a coach for the national team to replace Muli Katzurin. Belarussian/Polish Igor Griszczuk will take the helm of Poland for Eurobasket 2011 qualifiers this year, after the refusal of Dražen Anzulović and the rejection of proposals such as Valdemaras Chomičius or Tomas Pačėsas. The terms of the contract are still to be discussed, but a signature is expected next week. If Poland reaches the tournament and has a good display, Griszczuk could stay for another year.
The 45-year-old is an old acquaintance of Polish basketball, as he has been in the country since 1992, firstly as a player for Anwil Włocławek and then as a coach of the same team and previously of Czarni Słupsk.
