News: Pešić at the helm of Valencia

The vacant place left after Manolo Hussein's dismissal will be filled by Svetislav Pešić. The 61-year-old Serbian coach has agreed to lead the reigning Eurocup champions for the remainder of the season, although the Spanish club had initially proposed a two-year deal. The former Crvena Zvezda boss will watch Valencia's Euroleague game against Olimpija on Wednesday before taking over the team.
Pešić already coached Spanish teams, namely Barcelona and Girona. Other than that he was with Bosna Sarajevo, Alba Berlin, Köln, Roma and Dynamo Moscow. Internationally he also led the national teams of Germany and Serbia and Montenegro, with which he conquered two Eurobasket gold medals in 1993 and 2001, respectively. In 2002 he gave Serbia and Montenegro a World Championship, besides winning the Euroleague title with Barcelona the following year.
