News: Brasília becomes South American champion

In al all-Brazilian final played on Sunday, Uniceub/BRB Brasília claimed the South American League title.
Brasília beat rivals Flamengo 96-86 and already led by nine points at halftime especially due to a good shot selection and Flamengo’s misses from long range. During the second half the champions allowed a 17-3 run by Flamengo and trailed, but outside shots made them regain the lead and grab the win.
Welington dos Santos “Nezinho” (6 rebounds) and Guilherme Giovannoni (5 rebounds) had 22 points apiece, while Alex Garcia added 16 and Márcio Cipriano less one and 6 boards. For the runner-up Marcelinho Machado nailed 28 points, followed by Guilherme Teichmann with 12 and Rafael Araújo “Baby” (10 rebounds) and Jefferson William (7 boards) with 11 each.
Boca Juniors from Argentina secured the third place by beating former champions Quimsa 79-66 and qualified for the Americas League.
