One of the biggest hopes of Spanish basketball is set to stay in Madrid but will change clubs. Real Madrid and Estudiantes reached an agreement for the transfer of Carlos Suárez to the Blancos after months of intense negociation and speculation which also included Barcelona. The 24-year-old forward will sign a four-year deal with the Spanish giants and is expected to be officially presented next week after the medical tests. The numbers of the side change are of about 800 thousand Euros.
A product of Estudiantes, Suárez played for none other than his former club until now. Last season he averaged 11 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists over 35 games in the Spanish league, being named to the season's first team. He was part of Spain's preliminary squad for the 2010 World Championship.
