News: Lithuania crowned U18 European champions

Without a single defeat in the tournament, Lithuania conquered the U18 European Championsip title yesterday. In a dismal final, the champions thumbed Russia 90-61 and succeeded Serbia. The Lithuanians collected gold for the second time and made the semi-finals of the competition for the fourth consecutive year. Two years ago nearly the same players also conquered gold at the U16 European Championship.
Uncontested tournament MVP Jonas Valančiūnas posted 31 points and 18 rebounds for his best display, followed by Deividas Pukis with 21 points, Renaldas Simanavičius with 12 and Žygimantas Skučas with less two and 6 boards. For the Russians, Sergei Karasev scored 15 points, while Vladislav Trushkin added 13 and Tamirlan Bekkiev 11.
Lavia grabbed the third place with a 75-49 win over Serbia.
