News: Coach Aco Petrović out of Žalgiris

Once again heads roll in Lithuanian giants Žalgiris Kaunas. The board of the club decided to dismiss coach Aco Petrović four months after the 51-year-old Serbian arrived in the team.
Despite the good campaign of Žalgiris in the national league and European competitions, the directors were expecting more, especially regarding game quality. The two consecutive Euroleague losses to Partizan and Maccabi Tel Aviv, along with the recent loss to Azovmash Mariupol in the VTB League did the rest.
For now the team’s helm will be handed to Rimantas Grigas, the sports director. Grigas already coached Žalgiris between 2006 and 2008.
There are rumours about the possible hiring of Lithuania national team coach Kęstutis Kemzūra and of former Greece boss Jonas Kazlauskas.
